Charles "Charlie" Cornwell Jr.

Charles "Charlie" Cornwell Jr. passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026. He was the son of the late Charles Woodrow Cornwell Sr. and Frankie Anderson Cornwell. Charlie had worked as a residential carpenter. He liked playing the guitar, singing, fishing, medal detecting and spending time with his family. He was a native of Cherokee County, N.C., and a member of Rowland Hill Baptist Church. Charlie was preceded in death by his sister, Cindy Conley; nephew, Johnathan Fleming; and grandparents, Carl and Elsie Timpson Cornwell, and Frank and Lorene Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Lesha Cornwell; a step- daughter, Christy Crisp (Adam); a grandson, Jim Crisp; a nephew, Dustin Miller; sisters-in-law, Debbie Fleming (Ronald) and Carolyn Rowland. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 2, in Rowland Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Dickey and Pastor Harold Stiles officiating. Pallbearers were Adam Crisp, Jim Crisp, Michael Lovingood, Terry Rogers, Ronald Fleming and Andrew Stancel. Music was provided by Sue Lovingood.
