Beloit, KS
Charles Elvin “Elvin” Cody, 88, of Beloit, Kansas, passed away on March 14, 2026. Born on January 13, 1938, in Plant City, Florida, to Clayton and Vada Cody, he spent part of his childhood in Hartford, Connecticut. There he created memories that his children cherished hearing, especially the tales of skipping school to spend his days at the movie theater watching adventure films such as Tarzan, Buck Rogers, and Bring ‘Em Back Alive. He often laughed that everything at the movies cost only a nickel in those days.
Later, his family moved to a farm near Long Lane, Missouri, where Elvin worked alongside them and met his future wife, Georgia Lynch. Together they built a life and raised their family. For many years he worked as an over-the-road truck driver, a role that allowed him to travel across much of the country until his retirement.
Elvin was a quiet man until one came to know him. Once he began to speak, he became a gifted storyteller who could bring memories and adventures vividly to life. Those close to him also knew his occasional stubbornness, which was simply part of the determined character that defined him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Cody, and his daughter, Jessica Cody. He is survived by his children, Charles Cody (Jennifer), Karen Nordhus (Jerry), and Rachel Weatherd (Danon); his six grandchildren, Lisa, Lake, Jake, Makenzee, Jared, and Sebastian; numerous great-grandchildren; his sisters, Irene Myers (Jim) and Ruby Roberts; and several nieces and nephews.
Elvin will be remembered for his stories, his love of the open road, and the many memories he shared with those who loved him. The tales he loved to tell will continue to live on through the family and friends who knew and cherished him.
