August 5, 1953— March 8, 2026
Port St. Lucie, FL
Charles “Charlie” Carl Speicker Jr., 72, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2026.
Born on August 5, 1953, in Asbury Park, New Jersey, Charlie moved with his family to Sweetwater, Florida, at the age of two. Music filled his early years; his parents had a small band, and he learned to play guitar, performing alongside them and his sister Linda at the Bilmar Lounge. Those childhood performances remained among his most cherished memories.
In early 1973, Charlie enlisted in the United States Army. He served for ten years, stationed in Germany, Colorado, Hawaii, and Kansas, before receiving his honorable discharge in 1983. That same year he began his career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked until his retirement in 2015.
Charlie met the love of his life, Janet, in late 1973, and they married in 1974. Together they raised a family and created a home centered on love and shared adventures. He treasured fishing with his sons, camping in the Florida Keys during mini lobster season, and attending car shows with his Camaro. Later he discovered a passion for riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and became an active member of American Legion Post 62. Known for his quiet wisdom, Charlie taught life lessons to his children and many others who crossed his path. In his later years he mastered the craft of making stone crab crackers, selling them online and to local fish markets, including his son’s market in Cudjoe Key. He took special joy in working side by side with his daughter, often laughing through the occasional bruised knuckle.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda Woodson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janet Speicker; sons Cory (Tina) Speicker of Fort Pierce and Scott (Kirsten) Speicker of Cudjoe Key; daughter Christie (Matt) Zutter of Fort Pierce; and stepdaughter Denise (Sam) Romans of Port St. Lucie. He leaves behind ten grandchildren—Dusty, Breanna, Caitlyn, Lance, Delaney, Morgen, Dani, Axl, Koa, and Makana—and three great-grandchildren—Easton, Wyatt, and Melanie. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Harris, along with many extended family members and friends who became like family.
Charlie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
