Klamath Falls, OR

Charles “Chuck” Arthur Burt was born on March 18, 1936, in Hullet, Wyoming, to Ollie and Sylvia Burt. The family moved between Klamath Falls, Oregon, and South Dakota during his early childhood before settling permanently in the Stewart Lennox area of Klamath Falls, where he lived for the rest of his life.

In the late 1940s, Chuck met his future wife, Iva “Susie” Snyder, who also lived in Stewart Lennox, when her brother brought him home as a friend. They married on September 5, 1958, and shared 67 years together. Chuck worked on his sister’s ranch before taking jobs at Weyerhaeuser and Columbia Plywood, where he was injured on the job in 1973. He and Susie raised their four children in the modest home they purchased in 1958 and later expanded as their family grew.

Chuck loved the outdoors, especially camping and water skiing at Shasta Lake and Lake of the Woods. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, building model cars in his later years, playing cards with Susie, and working on word search puzzles. A quiet man of few words, he was known throughout the neighborhood as a skilled handyman and a second father to many local children. He was actively involved with the District 4 fire department and attended church faithfully, first at Klamath Temple (now Glad Tidings) and later at Assembly of God (Thrive Church).

Chuck is survived by his wife Susie, sons Benny, Dale (Candy), and Tim (Erin), daughter Donnalee (Carl), eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, brother Clyde, sister Grace, and many nieces, nephews, and neighborhood children who called him Dad. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother LeRoy, and sisters Hazel and Loretta. He will rest at Eternal Hills in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
