July 8, 1965— March 12, 2026
Owensboro, KY
Charles Anthony Lanham, Jr, “Charlie Boy” age 60, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12th. While our hearts are heavy, we are comforted knowing he is now at peace.
Charlie Boy was born July 8, 1965, in Owensboro, KY to Charles & Helen Lanham. From the very beginning, he brought a special light into the lives of everyone who knew him. Living with mental disabilities never defined him. It simply made the love he shared with the world even more pure and genuine.
Charlie Boy had a big heart and found joy in the simple things. He especially loved watching Disney movies, superheroes, old time shows, dancing, eating, completing wordbook puzzles, making phone calls to his sisters, and having incoming visitors. Those who knew him will always remember his smile, his love for family and his constant quotes: RIGHT? DIDN’T I TELL YOU? and WE GOT A PROBLEM.
Family meant everything to him, and he was deeply loved by his parents, siblings, and his extended Bobby Edge family. His life reminded us daily about patience, unconditional love, and finding joy in the little moments.
He is survived by his father, Charles A. “Doodlebug” Lanham, Sr.; siblings, Danna (Buddy) Cook, Rosie (Jeff) Payne, Janet (Wayne) Mills, and Donna (Donnie) Howard, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was welcomed into heaven by his mother, Margaret Helen Lanham; brother, Brian Lanham, and nephew, Nicholas Mills.
Our family is grateful for the caregivers and staff from Puzzle Pieces, Dawson Springs Outwood Care, and Wendell Foster and his friends who showed him kindness and compassion throughout his life.
The Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. William Catholic Church. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with prayers beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Wendell Foster Center, who helped with God’s plan in bringing Charlie Boy home where he could have time, surrounded by his family and friends during his final day.
Though our hearts will always miss him, we are thankful for the gift of his life and the love he brought into our world.
