Charles Adams, 85, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on March 12, 2026, at Wabash General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born at home on February 8, 1941, in Mount Carmel, he was the son of Alfred and Mildred (Hall) Adams. He married Barbara Hedge on August 22, 1958, in Shawneetown, Illinois, and they shared sixty-seven years of devoted marriage.
Charles was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family above all else. A dedicated worker, he spent his career in the oilfields, retiring as a tool pusher and taking great pride in his labor. He found joy in the outdoors, particularly fishing and gathering with friends and neighbors at Adams Fish Shack by the river. Charles also loved woodworking, creating many pieces with his own hands, and was a faithful member of Heartland Worship Center.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Adams; his children, Gaila Pinnick, Tom Adams and wife Tanya, Charles Adams and wife Jenny, and John Adams and wife Denise; grandchildren Brandie (Julie) Hensley, Magon (Jared) Karns, James (Lori) Pinnick, Sean (Sarah) Nettleton, Heather (Alex) Rawls, Charley (Thessa) Adams, Kaeli (Clay Curtright) Adams, John (Jennifer) Adams, and Cori (Brandon) Stringfellow; many beloved great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Janet (Rick) Oliver; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; twin great-grandchildren Colt and Case Witsman; sisters Lois Holcomb and Brenda Hargrave; and brothers Roy Adams, Gene Adams, and Richard Adams.
