Charlene Mae Barta, née Hallmark, age 98, of Euclid and formerly of Bedford, passed away peacefully. She was the beloved wife of the late John Barta and the daughter of the late Charles H. Hallmark and the late Loula E. Hallmark, née Baskett. Charlene was the dearest sister of the late Stanley, Maxene, Norma, Colleen, Patty, and Geneva.

A devoted mother, she is survived by her sons John Jr. (Barbara), Gary Allan (Cindy), and Steven Craig (Susan and the late Pat). She was a cherished grandmother to Jeffery Barta (Laura), Bethany Garbe (Alex), Justin Barta, Scott Barta (Marianne), Stacey Menzies, Adam Menzies, Ryan Barta (Natalie), and Michael Barta, and a loving great-grandmother to Moira, Devlin, Ashley, Katelyn, Clare, Anne, Faith, Isabella, and Mateo.

Charlene worked hard to provide for her family and later built a successful career as a realtor. She took genuine pleasure in meeting people and helping families find homes, rising to leadership roles that included President of the Cleveland Area Board of Realtors, President of the Ohio Women’s Council of Realtors, Vice President of the Ohio Association of Realtors, Vice President of the National Association of Realtors, and National Director for three years. She also served as a School PTA president, Cub Scout Den Mother, and local campaigner for cancer and March of Dimes drives, and later as President of the Macedonia AARP chapter. An accomplished seamstress, she was known for her wonderful chocolate chip cookies and her warm, generous spirit.
