Charlene was born in Oakland, California on November 14th, 1951, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Helene Lewis Clark. Charlene grew up in California and was a graduate of Alameda High School. Once she moved to Connecticut, Charlene pursued various careers. She started as a Medical Insurance Billing Administrator with MD Healthcare. After that, she obtained a real estate license and worked with Alan Barbarino Real Estate in Wallingford, CT. She then worked and retired as a Licensed Pharmacy Technician with Walmart in Wallingford, CT. Charlene had a wide variety of interests and hobbies. She had a deep passion for animals, most notably, horses and all things equestrian related. She loved traveling, especially to historical sites and landmarks throughout the United States. She absolutely loved music and sang in various choirs throughout her life. She also had a great interest in general learning and knowledge, which led her to be selected to compete on an episode of the iconic TV game show Jeopardy!, an achievement that she took so much pride in. But, above all, she took the greatest pride in being a loving mother and grandmother.Charlene is survived by her sons, David Royal Hood and James Joel Hopperstad, her grandson, Zachary Hopperstad, and her siblings, Don Joseph Clark and Cheryl Mogensen. She was predeceased by her sons, Christopher Andrew Hopperstad and Thomas Jon Hopperstad, her brothers, Charles Lee Clark and Michael Lewis Clark, and her sister, Sandi Mejia.Family and friends are invited to meet directly in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven, on Wednesday, April 1st, at 12:00pm to attend a Mass of Christian Burial and are also invited to attend the committal services immediately following in All Saints Cemetery. The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of traditional calling hours, there will be a celebration of life to follow the burial at J.Roo's Restaurant, 243 State Street in North Haven, CT, from 5:30-8:30pm on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
