Chalmers David Winstead

Chalmers David Winstead, age 81, of Pinnacle, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Born on May 6, 1944, in Wilson County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Lonnie Carroll and Susie Eloise Rhodes Batts.

David was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend whose quiet strength and steady presence touched everyone who knew him. He shared a deep and enduring bond with his wife, Judy Monday Winstead, and took great joy in his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda “Mandy” Winstead Cook and Chuck. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Batts Edwards; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry Monday and Mary Cynthia; special friends Josh Harris, Chad Bullington, Lee Inman, and Kenneth Chilton; his devoted companion, Chubbs; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Those who loved him will remember David for the warmth and loyalty he showed throughout his life, leaving behind a family that will carry his memory with great affection.
