Celida Maria Palaziol

Celida Maria Palaziol passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2026, in San Pedro, California, at the age of 81. Born in Tamazula, Durango, Mexico, on October 17, 1944, she had been a resident of San Pedro for 65 years. She met the love of her life, Jorge Palaziol, in San Pedro, and they married on April 15, 1968. Together they built a warm and enduring life centered on family.

A devoted stay-at-home mother to her children, Patricia and George, Celida filled their childhood with love and special memories. Her home became the heart of the family, a welcoming gathering place where laughter and connection were always present. She was the center of her family’s universe, cherished for her generous spirit and the comfort she brought to everyone around her.

Celida loved to travel, cook, and celebrate with family and friends. She enjoyed casino trips and bingo, but she was best remembered as an extraordinary cook and baker whose famous tamales, empanadas, and cookies brought joy to every gathering. Her coffee pot was always ready, and her door was open to visitors at any time.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maria Luisa (Torres) Fernandez and Inez Jose Fernandez, her husband Jorge Gerardo Palaziol, and her brothers-in-law Hector Palaziol, John Carlos Palaziol, Arturo Cuadra, and Francisco Sanchez. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Palaziol Fire (Laurence Fire) and son George Patrick Palaziol (Jennifer Palaziol); her grandchildren Anthony Michael Palaziol, Victoria Ann Palaziol, Eliana Jordan Fire, and Daniel Louis Palaziol; her sisters Gloria Cuadra, Socorro Fernandez, Adela (John) Bodnar, and Martha Higgins; her brothers Joe (Lupe) Fernandez and Jose (Sonia) Fernandez; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will carry her memory with deep affection.
