Cecilio Garcia Sr.

Cecilio Garcia, Sr., affectionately known as Chio, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on March 11, 2026, at his home in Poth, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 22, 1935, in Kingsville, Texas, to Margarito Garcia and Catarina Gonzalez Garcia, he married Petra Griego in 1954. Together they raised a family of five sons and one daughter, creating a home filled with love and shared stories.

A longtime truck driver, Cecilio took great pride in his work and in being named Driver of the Year. He loved recounting tales from his many miles on the road, always eager to engage in conversation with family and friends over a cold drink. In his younger years he enjoyed dancing and singing, and later found quiet satisfaction in handiwork around the house, gardening, and spending time outdoors on his scooter.

He is joyfully reunited in heaven with his parents, his beloved wife Petra, his brother Alfredo “Freddy” Garcia, his sister Juanita “Janie” Camarillo, and his son-in-law Leandro “Foe” Trevino. Those left to cherish his memory are his children Geraldo Garcia (Mary), Terry Trevino, Mark Garcia (Jana), Cecilio Garcia Jr., Robert Garcia, and Steve Garcia (Sonia); his sister Stella; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

Cecilio will be remembered for his warmth, generous heart, and the stories he loved to share. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
