Cecilia Valdez-Ortiz ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Moss Funeral Home, P.C. - Breese on Feb. 24, 2026.Cecilia "CC" Valdez-Ortiz, age 29, of Aviston, passed away Monday, February 23, 2026, at SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 14, 1996, in Mexico, a daughter of Martha Ortiz and Dionicio Valdez of Highland.Cecilia is survived by her loving parents; siblings, Ari Valdez-Ortiz of Aviston, Allison Valdez-Ortiz of Highland; partner, Alberto Martinez of Aviston; and niece, Sofia Silva.Known to many as "CC," she had a gift for making others feel cared for and understood. She worked as the head cook at Aviston Countryside Manor, where she poured her love into every meal she prepared. Earlier in life, she worked milking cows in the Highland area. She was a member of St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville, where she proudly served Masses, and she also generously volunteered her time helping at the St. Francis Church Picnics in Aviston.Cecilia was known for her giving nature, she was always ready to help anyone in need, whether that meant sharing clothing, providing interpretation, or offering household items. She never hesitated to lend a hand or a smile. Her love for animals was just as strong as her love for people, especially when it came to her cherished dogs, Rocky, her husky, and Daisey, her rat terrier.Above all, Cecilia treasured her family. She loved spending time with her sisters, laughing, talking, and playing games together, simple moments that meant everything to her.Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 27, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville.
