Cecil Wincel Thaxton

Cecil Wincel Thaxton, 76, of Roberta, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Atrium Health Navicent in Macon.

Born in Macon to the late Gene and Aurie Dent Thaxton, Wincel was a lifelong resident of Roberta. He spent several years as a cattle farmer before taking over the operation of his father’s service station. A devoted member of Roberta Baptist Church who also attended Lizella Baptist Church, he served his community for many years on the Roberta City Council and the Planning and Zoning Board.

Wincel is survived by his wife, Gale Thaxton; their daughters, Kim Odum (Craig) and Kristi Buice (Sam); grandsons, Gunner Logan, Hayden Odum, and Brody Logan; nephews, Kerry Dunaway (Robin) and Jed Dunaway; niece, Angel Sorrells (Alan); and many cousins, extended family members, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Evalyn Dunaway, and several aunts and uncles.
