Cecil Dennis “CD” Southard III, 86, of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026. Born in Evanston, Illinois, he moved at age two to Kansas City, Missouri, where he graduated from Southwest High School before enlisting in the Air Force. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics with honors from Baker University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Columbia University.
CD built a distinguished career in compensation and benefits. He began with Equitable Insurance in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, then served as a Senior Consultant for Towers, Perrin, Forster & Crosby in Manhattan, Wiesbaden, Germany, and Chicago. He concluded his professional life as Executive Director of Compensation and Benefits at Rohm & Haas in Philadelphia. Deeply committed to service, he held volunteer leadership roles with Family Services of Montgomery County and the National Adoption Center, and served as Chairman of the Board of the American Compensation Association. In retirement, he was President of the ACTS Normandy Farms community association and its Investing Club.
An avid golfer and longtime member of Old York Road Country Club in Ambler, CD also loved to travel. He visited all seven continents, more than half the world’s countries, and every state in the United States. Above all, he cherished his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Southard; sons Dennis Southard (Dominique) and Shawn Southard (Terri); grandsons Denny and Henry Southard; sister Sally McCaffrey; and step-sister Mary Clarke.
