Cecelia Wahlmeier ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Barber Funeral Home - Horseheads on Mar. 17, 2026.Cecelia "Kay" Walter Wahlmeier Age 86, of Horseheads, formerly of Spencer, NY, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Arnot-Ogden Medical Center. Kay was born in Sayre Pennsylvania on November 20, 1939, a daughter to Cecil Teeter and Jean Teeter. She graduated from Sayre high school. Kay married Louis Walter on July 26, 1958 a loving union of 40 years until his passing on December 11, 1998. They resided in Spencer, NY with their five children. She later married Hugh Wahlmeier on March 19, 2005 and lived in Horseheads for the past 21 years. Kay spent her time as a loving caretaker of her family and an avid gardener. She loved giving garden tours as her gardens in both Spencer and Horseheads were admired by all who passed by. Kay was also an active communicant at St Pius X in Van Etten and St. Mary Our Mother in Horseheads. Kay was predeceased by her first husband, Louis and her siblings, Tommy, Patricia, Charlotte, and Joan. She is survived by her husband Hugh, brother Eugene, her children Linda (Ken) Short of Harrisburg PA, Elizabeth McConnell of Gig Harbor WA, Rose (Reed) Madill of Montour Falls, John (Susan) Walter of Van Etten, and Michael (Caira) Walter of Cazenovia; grandchildren, Heather (Tim) Beveridge, Brenden (Tracy) Short, Hannah (Mike) Futer, Steven (Kristan Chi) McConnell, Sara (Glen Bangart) McConnell, Nathan (Kaitlyn) Kemmerer, Candice (Stephen) Taylor, Jade Madill, Britni (Scott) Marshall, Olivia, Elliott, Cadence and Cruz Walter and 11 great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, March 23rd, 2026 at 10 am, held at St. Mary Our Mother Catholic Church, 816 West Broad Street, in Horseheads, NY.
