Cathy Metcalf ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Young's Funeral Home - Vidalia on Mar. 16, 2026.Funeral services for Cathy Anne Hawkes Metcalf, 79 of Vidalia, LA will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes in Vidalia, LA at 1PM on Friday, March 20, 2026 with Fr. Daniel O'Connor officiating. Internment will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends before the service from 12PM until the service begins at 1PM.Cathy was born on Monday, September 9, 1946 in Ferriday, LA and passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She lived a life of faith, warmth, and generous spirit. For many years Cathy faithfully served at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where she could almost always be found lending a helping hand wherever it was needed. She cherished her luncheons with the ladies of the church, sharing laughter, stories, and friendship that meant so much to her.At home, Cathy adored her puppies and found pure joy in all things Disney, especially Mickey and Minnie Mouse, which always seemed to make her smile. But above everything else, Cathy loved her family and her church with her whole heart.She had a special quality that simply made people love her; she was vibrant and full of life. Cathy was one of the last Southern ladies-tough, determined, gracious, and someone who never gave up.She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleaveland and Elsie Hawkes, sister, Kay Hawkes and her brother, Gary Hawkes.Those left to honor and cherish her memory are, her husband of 60 years, Bud Metcalf, of Vidalia, LA; daughter, Paula Philippe (Eric) of Kentwood, LA; grandson, Ryan Joseph Philippe of Denham Springs, LA; sister, Charlette Watson (Barney) of Vidalia, LA; three sisters-in-law, Doris Watson of Vidalia, LA, Sue Gillespie of Ferriday, LA, and Margaret Hawkes of Vidalia, LA; special cousins, Lilly Boykin and Marie Watson of Vidalia, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.Those honoring Cathy as pallbearers will be, Stuart Boykin, Jason Hawkes, Mason Hawkes, Adam Darian, Mike Keuhler, and Rick Gillespie.To leave an online condolence for the family please visit www.youngsfh.com.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
