Catherine T. Rubas

Catherine T. Rubas, 82, of Massena, passed away on March 12, 2026. Born in New York City on July 8, 1943, to the late Vito and Palma (Giame) Randazzo, she graduated from Copiague High School in Long Island in 1961. On September 28, 1963, she married her soulmate, Peter M. Rubas, at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church on Long Island.

Catherine worked for New York State for more than thirty years before retiring in 1999. After she and Peter relocated to the North Country to be closer to family, they enjoyed traveling, visiting casinos, and spending time with loved ones. She was known for her warm Italian Sunday dinners, when she would spend weekends cooking generous family feasts.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Peter M. Rubas Sr. of Massena; their son, Peter M. Rubas Jr. of North Lawrence; two grandchildren, Emily Rubas of North Lawrence and Ashley Rubas of Madrid; her sister, Annette Platania of Copiague; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Matthew “Matty” Randazzo.

A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.
