Catherine Regina Parker

Catherine Regina Parker of North Augusta, South Carolina, passed away on March 5, 2026. Born in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, she made North Augusta her home for the past 75 years. A longtime communicant of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Cathy found deep joy in her faith, her family, and her many friends. She was an avid reader and a passionate bridge player who brought warmth and intelligence to every gathering.

Cathy graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey, and enjoyed a long career as a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, where she cared for others with dedication and compassion until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis S. Parker; her three brothers, Monsignor Edward Szapka, Clement Szapka, and Alfred Szapka; and her two sisters, Helen Fadnek and Cecelia Klemski. She is survived by her two sons, Lewis Edward Parker and his wife Jane of Houston, Texas, and Thomas John Parker of North Augusta, South Carolina, as well as two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
