Catherine R. "Cathie" (Holland) Fogarty

Catherine R. "Cathie" (Holland) Fogarty

January 15, 1947 March 8, 2026

Norwell, MA

Our hearts are broken to share that our beloved mother and grandmother, Cathie — lovingly known as “Rara” to all who knew her — has passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 8, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Long before the dementia took hold, she was full of life. She loved traveling, going out to eat, reading a good book, and spending time at the beach. She had a joyful spirit and a warmth that made everyone around her feel welcome and loved. She never missed a chance to laugh, celebrate, and enjoy life’s simple moments. Her laughter, her love, and the memories she created with all of us will stay in our hearts forever. We will remember her not for the illness that slowly took her from us, but for the beautiful, vibrant life she lived and the love she gave so freely.

Cathie was born on January 15, 1947, to the late Kathleen B. (Kiley) Holland and Charles R. Holland and was raised in Dorchester.

She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Fogarty, BFD, whom she married in 1971, and then they moved to Norwell.

Loving mother of Sean Fogarty of Scituate, Brian and his wife Bela Fogarty of Dartmouth, and Matthew and his wife Susan Fogarty of Norwell.

Devoted “Rara” to John, Sarah, Liam, Niall, Colin, Matthew, and Ethan.

Sister of Barbara Holland of Duxbury and the late William Holland.

Sister-in-law of Mary Ann and Donald Smith of Florida.

Cathie will be lovingly remembered as “Rara” to her many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Rte. 53, Hanover, on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate, on Friday morning, March 13, 2026, at 10:00 A.M.

Burial will follow in Washington Street Cemetery in Norwell.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Cathie’s memory may be made to Cancer Can’t at www.theccteam.org., to assist local families recovering from cancer.
