Catherine M. (Catania) Randazza, of Gloucester, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully with family by her side on March 9, 2026, at the age of 95. Born in Gloucester on September 17, 1930, she was the first of twelve children born to the late Michael and Sarah (Aiello) Catania and the beloved wife of the late Captain Salvatore P. Randazza Jr.

A lifelong resident of Gloucester, Catherine graduated from Saint Ann’s School. Her deep faith guided her throughout her life, and she attended Mass faithfully every Saturday. A working mother ahead of her time, she was employed at Ocean Crest Seafoods for more than twenty years and remained an active member of the Seafood Retirees. She was also a devoted member of the Madonna Del Rosario and Mother of Grace Club, where she found joy participating in the St. Joseph and St. Peter’s Novenas.

Catherine cherished time with her large family, especially the Sunday gatherings with her brothers and sisters. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor, her famous sugu and meatballs, and her unique way of showing love as Nana Randazza. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo with dear friends at the Rose Baker Senior Center, traveling to Atlantic City, Foxwoods, and Mohegan Sun, and going out to eat at any hour, particularly at Charlie’s Place. A strong and resilient woman, she cared for many throughout her life, including her siblings and grandchildren, always placing family at the center of her world.

She is survived by her children, Salvatore Randazza and his wife Elaine, Sharon Monette and her husband Ed, and Andrea Carlson and her husband Chris; her cherished grandchildren, Regina Randazza, Catherine Caluian and her husband Dan, Elizabeth Kasera, Jennifer Perry and Michael Perruzi, Deanna Perry, Louis Perry and his wife Erica, Austin Monette, Ryan Monette, Christopher Carlson and his wife Alisha, Caitlin Carlson, and Ross Carlson and Deanna Palmisano; and 19 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Mary Favazza, Janette Fournier, Pauline Pelosi, Vita Lefavor and her husband John, Frank Catania and his wife Gaye, Joe Catania and his wife Debbie, Joyce Curcuru and her husband Michael, and Rosanne Catania. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her children Michael Randazza and Grace Gail Randazza, and by several siblings and brothers-in-law.

Catherine was lovingly cared for by her daughter Andrea and son-in-law Chris for many years. She was the matriarch of her family and will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
