Catherine M. Harper

Catherine M. Harper of Quincy passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on February 4, 1944, to the late Joseph and Deborah McGrath, Catherine lived a life defined by kindness, quiet strength, and deep devotion to family.

Affectionately known as Cathie, she was the cherished wife of the late John J. Harper, Jr. for 18 years. She was a devoted mother to Elizabeth (Beth) Harper and her life partner Mike Gallant of Hanover, Gregory Harper and his wife Paula of Wareham, and Jennifer Farrell and her husband Marc of Fallbrook, California. Catherine took great joy in her role as Nana to her eight grandchildren: Shana, Taylor, Lauren, Cory, Josh, Jacquelyn, Avery, and Jameson.

A native of Brighton and a longtime resident of Quincy since 1975, Catherine was a devout Catholic and an active volunteer at Holy Trinity Parish. She worked for 35 years as a lead clerk at Brighton Municipal Court before continuing her career at Milton Academy. She was known for her warm, social nature and her ability to see the best in everyone. Catherine loved ballroom dancing and cherished every opportunity to visit her grandchildren in California, never allowing distance to weaken family bonds.

She is survived by her loving sister, Maureen Cabradilla of Wareham, and many nieces and nephews who will remember her warmth and guidance. Catherine was predeceased by her siblings Deborah, Joe, Emily, Billy, and Anne, as well as her longtime companion, George Chopourian. Her family will carry forward the countless memories she created and the values of love and connection she held so dear.
