Catalina R. Mendez, affectionately known as Caty to her family and friends, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, in Whittier, California, at the age of 90. Born on December 31, 1935, in Hacienda San Juan Dzonot, Yucatán, Mexico, she carried the values of kindness, humility, generosity, and deep faith from her humble beginnings through every chapter of her long life.

For 71 years, Catalina shared a devoted marriage with her husband, Enrique Mendez (Henry). Together they built a home rooted in love, faith, and family, where everyone was welcomed and cared for. She was the heart of her family, dedicating herself to nurturing and supporting those she loved. Catalina found joy in simple pleasures, including reading poetry and the Bible, singing songs from her youth and church hymns, and practicing her talents for sewing and embroidery. In her later years, she enjoyed coloring books and word searches, activities that reflected her gentle and thoughtful spirit. Above all, she was remembered for her kind demeanor, her selfless devotion to others, and a faith that guided and inspired her family throughout her life. Her love was expressed daily through quiet acts of care, leaving a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew her.
