Casimir John "Cas" Paprocki

Casimir “Cas” Paprocki passed away peacefully at his home on March 14, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on March 6, 1935, in Steubenville, Ohio, to Stanley and Eleanor Paprocki, Cas grew up with a strong work ethic and a deep sense of loyalty that defined his life. A 1952 graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central, he pursued his passion for aviation at Pittsburgh Aeronautical Institute, where he earned his Airframe & Powerplant License. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960 and was recalled to active duty from October 1961 through mid-1962.

Cas began his career with Capital Airlines in 1955 and continued with United Airlines after the merger, retiring in 2002 after more than 47 years as a Lead Mechanic. He was a dedicated advocate for his fellow workers, serving for many years as Assistant General Chairman for the International Association of Machinists Union. A man of deep faith, he was a longtime member of St. Theresa of Palatine and devoted more than 60 years to the Knights of Columbus, rising to the rank of 4th Degree.

Above all, Cas was a loving and steadfast family man. He shared more than 55 years of marriage with his wife, Cathleen (O’Donnell) Paprocki. Together they created a home built on hard work, stability, and quiet devotion. He is survived by Cathleen, their son Brian (Anna) Paprocki, and his cherished grandchildren Ian, Gwynne, Aiden, and Emilio Paprocki. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Eleanor, and his siblings Stanley Jr., Barney, Raymond, Alma, Lucy, Theresa, and Pauline.

Cas will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering loyalty, and willingness to help others. He took great satisfaction in working with his hands, tackling projects around the house, and sharing time with his grandchildren at their many events. He also enjoyed good food and the simple pleasures of family life.
