Carrie Jo Panega passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at the age of 57, surrounded by the love of her family after bravely battling breast cancer. Throughout her journey, she faced each day with strength, grace, and a steadfast determination to continue loving and supporting those around her.

Carrie was the devoted wife of Charles Panega, who found his greatest joy in loving her and ensuring she always felt cared for and happy. She was the beloved daughter of Linda Carter and the late Charles Anderson. A proud and loving mother, she cherished her children Mariah Stephens, Charlie Panega, Jonathan Panega, and Destiny Panega Kuhn, and was a doting grandmother to Zane, Zaliana, and Gianna, who filled her life with laughter, pride, and endless happiness.

She is survived by her siblings Richard Smith, Rhonda Ryan, and Heather Wangler, as well as Connie Anderson Kearny, Cathy Anderson Andreozzi, and Laura Parker. Carrie was dearly loved by her mother-in-law Phyllis Knobbe and brothers-in-law James Panega and Tom Panega. She held a special place in her heart as “Aunt Carrie” to her nieces Erika Ryan, Kayla Pearson, Nicole Ryan, Brooke Smith, Stefanie Poettker, Haylee Russo, and Addison Wangler, and she delighted in her great-nieces and great-nephews, showering them with warmth and affection. She also shared close friendships with Ashley Eagan and Stacey Adams.

For 25 years, Carrie dedicated herself to her work at the Murray Center, where she cared for residents with deep compassion, treating them like family and advocating for them with patience and strength. She was the heart of her family, known for her sassy sense of humor, generous spirit, and the way she made everyone feel welcomed, loved, and understood. Even in difficult times, Carrie chose to find the good in life and gently encouraged others to do the same. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew her.
