With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Carolyn S Layne of Waynesboro, Virginia, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. As Carolyn departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Carolyn may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Carolyn leaves behind.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Pearl Thomas and Charles Brizel Shifflett; her husband Henry David Layne; and her siblings-in-law, Gerald "Jerry" Layne, Teresa Layne and Ann Layne.

She is survived by: her children, Timothy "Tim" Layne (Brenna Fawley Layne) and Tammy Layne; and her grandchildren, Robin and Tai Layne. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their spouses and children.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 15th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes & Crematory (618 W Main St, Waynesboro, VA 22980).
