Carolyn R. Johnston

Carolyn R. Johnston, age 84, of Erie, passed away on March 11, 2026 at her residence. Born in Erie on April 9, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Martha (Eiswerth) Schlack.

Carolyn worked as a secretary for Great Lakes Home Healthcare. She found quiet joy in knitting, crocheting, and reading, pursuits that reflected her patient and creative spirit.

Preceded in death by her husband, James M. Johnston, and her son-in-law, Peter Dean, Carolyn is survived by her children, Lori Dean, Steven Johnston and his wife Ness, and Gary Johnston, all of Erie; her grandchildren, Brandon Dean, Mary Clare Johnston, and Bethany Johnston; and her cousins, Nancy Taraski, Patrick Hodapp, Joe Hodapp, and Claire Petruso.
