Carolyn Mary Marcato

Carolyn Mary Bedisky Marcato, 83, of West Wyoming, passed away on March 14, 2026, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on April 14, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Claire Lickiewicz Bedisky. Carolyn grew up in Exeter and graduated from Exeter High School in 1960. She went on to attend the Nesbitt Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, beginning a long and meaningful career in psychiatric nursing that made a lasting contribution to the field of mental health.

Beyond her professional dedication, Carolyn found great joy in regular visits to New York City, the place where she first began her career and where she remained forever drawn to its vibrant energy and people. She also cherished time spent along the East Coast’s beaches and casinos. In her later years, she immersed herself in the world of vintage treasures, spending many happy hours at estate sales, antique stores, and consignment shops while building a wide network of fellow collectors and buyers.

Carolyn is survived by her longtime partner, Edward Nelen, and her son, William Jon Marcato. She will be remembered for her spirited nature, her compassion for both people and animals, and the quiet pleasure she took in the things and places she loved.
