Baltimore, MD
Carolyn Lee Slavin, born July 12, 1946, passed away peacefully at home on March 14, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
Born to Raymond and Jackie Thorne, Carolyn had a gift for making life feel full of love, laughter, and family. She shared 35 cherished years with her devoted husband, George, creating a life rich in quiet joys and lasting memories. Her sons, Wes and Nelson, were the pride of her life. She warmly welcomed their wives, Ramona, Jeri, and Rita, into the family, and her heart swelled with pride for her grandchildren, Emily, Shannon, and Alex. She never missed a dance recital, band concert, or game. Carolyn also adored her great-grandchildren, Grace and Isaiah Jr., who never failed to bring a smile to her face.
She was deeply loved by her extended family and friends, including her sister Linda Mariast, her brother Donnie Thorne, Pamela Mariast, Donald Minter, and many others who will carry her memory forever. Carolyn could often be found with flour on her hands, baking sweets for those she loved, or with a paintbrush, creating artwork that brightened the walls of her home and the homes of her family. She treasured family gatherings filled with Maryland crabs, belly-aching laughter, and stories that would be retold for years. When she was not baking or painting, she found peace at the ocean, her favorite place.
Carolyn’s warmth, selflessness, creativity, and profound love for her family left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Her life was a beautiful testament to connection, joy, strength, and generosity. The memories she created will continue to comfort and inspire all those fortunate enough to have known her.
