Carolyn Kamerick ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Pierschbacher Funeral Homes - Knoxville on Feb. 26, 2026.Carolyn Kamerick, 88, of Knoxville, passed away February 24th, 2026, at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Graceland Cemetery. Following the graveside service, a celebration of life will be held at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Knoxville from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m.In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Central Iowa Hospice Care.Carolyn was born in Knoxville, Iowa on April 14, 1937, Cornelius and Margaret Van Hemert of Knoxville. Carolyn graduated from Knoxville High School. She married John O Kamerick of Knoxville on September 2, 1956. They lived in Iowa City while John was in college where their daughter Katie was born. Carolyn worked at the University of Iowa registrar's office until John accepted a job at the Community National Bank and they moved back to Knoxville.Over the years Carolyn was a homemaker, salesperson at Jo's Place and Rankin Furniture, assistant at Johnson, Jordan and Lane Law Firm, and worked at the racetrack office during Nationals.Carolyn was active in PEO and Mentor Study Club as well as the board of Pine Knolls Country Club for a few years. She enjoyed helping friends and family and traveling with her husband John. She loved to play bridge and was in quite a few different groups over the years. In retirement, Carolyn and John spent over 20 winters in south Florida in various locations from Treasure Island/ St. Petersburg to Marco Island with friends and family who were in the area.Carolyn was a wife, mother, grandmother and genuine person who loved meeting new people and was always happy to spend time with family and friends, whether old or new.Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, John Kamerick; grandson, Alex Todd; parents: Cornielus and Margaret Van Hemert; siblings: Mary Jane (Jim) Dreibelbeis, Linda (Chick) Rankin, Brenda (Harold) Beaver, Neala (Dennis) Heggan, and James (Joan) Van Hemert.She will be greatly missed by her children: Katie (Gary) Vos of Phoenix, and John M. (Tiffany) Kamerick of Carlisle; grandchildren: Aaron (Whitney) Todd, Lindsey Kamerick, and Jonathan Kamerick; great grandson, Arlo Todd; granddaughter-in-law, Bre Stevens; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
