Carolyn also spent 23 years working at the Times-News.At the age of 14, Carolyn met the love of her life, Jack Hopwood. Through her marriage, Carolyn also gained a large and loving extended family, joining Jack's family of nine siblings and his parents whom she loved as her own.One year later, Jack and Carolyn welcomed their first child, Brian. Jack even brought the top tier of their wedding cake to the hospital so they could celebrate their first wedding anniversary together the following day. Over the years, their family grew with the addition of Debbie, Doug, Christy, and Amber. She often reflected on those years, saying, "I know this was the happiest time of my life with a loving husband and my children."Carolyn enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved tending to her rose garden, crocheting, cross-stitching, and spending time playing pinochle and rummikub with family and friends.Carolyn is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jack Hopwood; her children: Brian and Berta Hopwood of Fairfield, Montana; Debbie and Ron Chavez of Kimberly, Idaho; Doug and Nancy Hopwood of Twin Falls, Idaho; Christy and Justin Mitchum of Casper, Wyoming; Amber and Corey Black of Hailey, Idaho; and her brother Richard Bencken of Boise, Idaho.
