Carolyn Jane Moorehead

Carolyn Jane Moorehead

September 18, 1930 March 13, 2026

Carolyn Jane Moorehead passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at the age of 95. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was marked by faith, devotion to family, quiet strength, and a joyful spirit. She lived humbly, loved deeply, and left a lasting imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She was married to the love of her life, John Dale Moorehead, Jr., for 65 years, sharing a remarkable marriage built on love, faith, and unwavering commitment until his passing. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Dale Moorehead, Jr., her sons, John Dale Moorehead, III and Kenneth Moorehead, and her sister, Linelle Atkins.

Carolyn is lovingly survived by her daughters, Roxanne Alley and Janie Bushn; her sister, Betty Reynolds; and her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jimmy Eric Alley and wife Tiffany (children Joseph, Jayden, Jeremy, Kash, and Jax), Jason Alley and wife Kristi (children Weston and Kason), Kristen Alley (children Kira and Jonathan), Rachael Ann Bushn, JD Moorehead, and Travis Moorehead.

She was known for being delightful, fun, and funny. Even into her 80s and 90s, she remained spry and playful, happily playing baseball with her great-grandchildren. She never missed the many events of her children and was one of their biggest supporters and loudest cheerleaders. A strong and faithful Christian, she was deeply proud of her Episcopalian faith, which guided her life and sustained her through both joy and sorrow. She faced life’s hardships with grace and resilience, including the heartbreaking losses of her husband and two sons, yet she remained steadfast, loving, and full of quiet courage. After her husband’s passing, she embraced opportunities to travel and make treasured memories with those she loved. She found joy in simple blessings and deeply appreciated the beauty of family, faith, and time spent together. Her legacy is one of faith, perseverance, kindness, laughter, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
