Huntsville, AR
Carolyn Boyd Hargis, 85, of Huntsville, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in Rogers surrounded by her family. Born on May 5, 1940, in Walnut, Mississippi, to James Chester and Annie Hugh Hudson Boyd, she was united in marriage to Thomas Burton Hargis on November 26, 1961, in Walnut. Together they built a loving home and raised three daughters.
For many years Carolyn worked as a land proprietor, managing their multiple rental complexes, while actively serving in her local Baptist Church. She lived as a faithful servant of the Lord, guided by kindness, humility, and a deep love for her family. Family remained at the center of her life. She cherished traveling with loved ones, especially to Florida, Branson, and her hometown of Walnut, Mississippi. In her spare time she enjoyed bridge and bowling, finding joy and fellowship in both. Carolyn was known for her strong work ethic and generous spirit. She held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Dantme,” and nothing brought her greater happiness than time spent with them. Her home was always warm and welcoming, with a seat at her table and a good meal ready for anyone who walked through the door.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Hargis; her parents, Chester and Annie Hugh Boyd; one grandson, Garrett Haralson; three sisters, Patricia Vick, Shirley Jackson, and Linda Gatlin; and one brother, Gary Boyd.
She is survived by her three daughters and their spouses, Deanna and Greg Simpkins of West Plains, Missouri, Sharon Hargis of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Denise and Gary Box of Rogers, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Brant Simpkins and wife Danielle, Cameron Simpkins, Kalie Simpkins, Seth Box and fiancée Lilliana, Sam Box and wife Madison, Leighton Haralson, and Sarah Beth Fink and husband Caleb; and five great-grandchildren, Rya Perry, Violet Simpkins, Lily Simpkins, Tommy Simpkins, and Wrenley Box. She is also survived by one sister, Janie Matthews of Walnut, Mississippi; sister-in-law Susan Boyd of Walnut, Mississippi; and sister-in-law and spouse Jean and Jimmy Phillips of Fort Collins, Colorado. Her legacy of faith, family, and love will live on in her children and grandchildren.
