Carolyn Compton ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Chambers Funeral Services - Matewan on Mar. 15, 2026.Carolyn Compton, 71, of Harrodsburg, KY, formerly of Freeburn, KY, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, March 14, 2026, while an inpatient at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY, surrounded by her beloved family.Born on April 29, 1954, in Williamson, WV, she was the beloved daughter of the late Robert Chapman and Hattie Mounts Chapman.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Sarah Gearles, Lucille Young, Bonnie Chapman, and Donna Chapman; and her brother, Robert Chapman, Jr.A devoted homemaker, Carolyn dedicated her life to nurturing her family, raising her children and grandchildren with unwavering love and care. She was a steadfast member of the Freeburn Church of God, where her faith and community were central to her life.She leaves behind her loving husband of 54 years, Milford "Mack" Compton of Harrodsburg, KY; her son, Milford Theodore "Lil Mack" Compton, which everyone knew was her "favorite", and his wife Barbara of Pikeville, KY; and her daughter, Tina Maria Goins and her husband Shane of Harrodsburg, KY. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Dalton Sanders of Harrodsburg, KY, Cole Sanders of Danville, KY, August Compton of Huntington, WV, and Milford Theodore "Trey" Compton of Pikeville, KY, who will forever hold her memory dear. She is also survived by her sister, Christine Justice of Chicago, IL.A passionate supporter of the Big Blue Nation, Carolyn was known for her love of the UK Wildcats and her spirited rivalry with the Louisville Cardinals. Her family says she likely planned things her way one last time, with her Friday funeral service falling right during the Wildcats' NCAA Tournament first-round game. Truth be told, if Carolyn couldn't watch Kentucky play, she probably figured nobody else needed to watch it either.The family will begin receiving friends on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Freeburn Church of God, 43095 KY-194, Freeburn, KY 41528. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., with a service beginning at 7:00 p.m.Honoring services will be held at the church on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Denny Land officiating.
