Call and Son Funeral Home on Mar. 9, 2026.Carolyn Ann Taylor, age 82, of Wheelwright, Kentucky passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 6, 2026. Carolyn was born on February 21, 1944, in Ahland, Kentucky to the late Tamara Howard and Grover McKown. She was known for her warm personality and vibrant spirit. Carolyn was extroverted, compassionate, and spontaneous, and she had a way of making others feel welcome wherever she went. She enjoyed laughing, dancing, and spending time with those she loved. Carolyn was a graduate of Ashland Senior High School in Ashland, Kentucky. During her younger years, she served as a cheerleader for the junior high division. She later continued her education in Atlanta, Georgia, where she studied nursing. She earned her LPN credentials, but continued her education to become a Registered Nurse. She also attended the University of Kentucky in the late 1980's.. Throughout her life, Carolyn found joy in many hobbies and interests. She loved cooking, reading, writing, gardening, sewing, quilting, and crocheting. She also enjoyed swimming and roller-skating. Carolyn especially treasured the simple moments of life, sharing laughter, caring for others, and creating things with her hands. Carolyn was a faithful member of Lighthouse Temple in Wheelwright, Kentucky, where she served as an usher. Her faith and service were important parts of her life.She was preceded in death by her parents, Tamara Howard and Grover McKown; her husband, Gary Taylor of Wheelwright, Kentucky; her son, Brian Prater of Ashland, Kentucky; her brother, Thomas William McKown (Cathy) of California; and her sister Pauleen Merle of Ashland, Kentucky.Carolyn is survived by her loving son, Eric Prater and his wife Sandy of Ashland, Kentucky, along with extended family and friends who will cherish her memory. Carolyn affectionately spoke of Tina Terry and Robbie Nickles as her kids, and Mark Graham as her son. She said, "To my special kids, know that wherever you go in the world, I will always love you."Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2026, at the Church of God MPG of T in Pikeville, Kentucky by Pastor Michael Armour Sr..To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
