Carolyn A. Jones

Carolyn A. Jones

Coatesville, PA

Carolyn Alma Mills Jones, affectionately known as “Cup Cake,” of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 5, 2026, at Chester County Hospital in West Chester at the age of 76. Born in Downingtown, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Mills and Lula Cardella Warnick, and the wife of the late Vernon Durnell Jones.

Carolyn worked as a machine operator at Pepperidge Farm in Downingtown, and also held positions at Burroughs in Downingtown and as a Kraft Bus driver. A faithful member of New Life in Christ Fellowship, she served on the usher board. She found great joy in traveling in motor homes, taking cruises, riding motorcycles with her husband, camping, dancing, and listening to gospel music and R&B. A devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan, she proudly owned every jersey and could be heard cheering—or gently scolding—the team on television, even during replays. In earlier years she loved cooking and entertaining family and friends, always ensuring no one left her table hungry. This passion for hospitality and good food she lovingly passed on to her daughter, Shell.

Known for her kind, generous, and happy spirit, Carolyn was quick with a warm comeback and possessed a wonderful sense of humor that brought laughter to those around her, even in her final days. Above all, she loved the Lord and often reminded others, “Trust in God… He makes the impossible possible.”

She leaves behind cherished memories for her daughter, Marisa Rachelle “Shell” Mills of Coatesville; grandson, Anthony James Charles “AJ” Mills of Coatesville; goddaughters Danielle Price of Wisconsin and Julie Williamson of South Carolina; sister Jane Warnick Barton of South Carolina; Keshawn Simpson, whom she raised as a son; brother-in-law Ronald Todd Jones and his wife Raquel; close sister-friends Priscilla Bryant and Patricia Campbell, who gave her the enduring nickname “Cupcake”; her pet Yorkie, Marcus; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles “Andy” Mills and Kenneth Byron Mills.
