Lebanon, KY

Caroline W. Mudd, age 64, of Lebanon, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on March 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on June 19, 1961, in Campbellsville, KY to the late Robert Conway and Rita Madden Whitlock. Though her early life brought its share of trials, those experiences helped form the resilient spirit, compassionate heart, and steady faith that carried her through life.

Caroline will be remembered above all for her kindness. She had a quiet, steady way of caring for others that made everyone feel welcome and valued. Whether through a comforting conversation, a handwritten note, or a shared meal, she made a lasting difference in the lives of those around her. Her generous spirit was natural and constant, and she gave of herself without hesitation.

She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband Jimmy for over 43 years. Their marriage was a partnership rooted in hard work, respect, and enduring love. Through every season of life, Caroline stood faithfully by her husband’s side, offering encouragement, devotion, and unwavering support.

Caroline’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her role as a mother. She loved her sons wholeheartedly and without condition, guiding them with patience, grace, and strong values. She celebrated their successes, comforted them in difficult moments, and always reminded them of how much they meant to her. Her nurturing heart created a home where her family felt safe, supported, and deeply loved. The lessons she taught, through both her words and her example, will continue to guide and inspire them throughout their lives.

Caroline also lived a life of remarkable professional dedication and public service. She retired as Warden from Marion Adjustment Center after a distinguished 20-year career in corrections, where she earned deep respect for her leadership, fairness, and commitment to both staff and those incarcerated. Following her retirement, she continued her service to the Commonwealth for another 12 years as a member of the Kentucky Parole Board, a responsibility she carried with great seriousness, integrity, and thoughtfulness.

She was a graduate of Campbellsville University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in History and a minor in Criminal Justice. Throughout her life, Caroline remained active in her community and generously gave her time and wisdom to numerous local efforts. She served on various boards and committees, including the Centre Square Committee and the Marion County Public Library Board of Trustees, always working to strengthen the community she loved.

She found her greatest joy in the time she shared with her family. Whether gathered around the kitchen table exchanging stories or basking in the laughter and bright smiles of her grandchildren, those were the moments where her love truly shined and her heart felt most at ease.

Caroline leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and devotion to family. She is survived by her husband, James Lee “Jimmy” Mudd of Lebanon, her two sons, Lee (Julie) Mudd of Lawrenceburg, KY, Ben (Brittany) Mudd of Lebanon, and four grandchildren, Emery, Aspen, Jack and Alex (A.J.).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Saint Augustine Catholic Church, 235 S. Spalding Avenue, Lebanon. Rev. Daniel Whelan will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
