Caroline Zawadski ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Hansen Mortuary Chapel - Phoenix on Mar. 9, 2026.Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Caroline Helen Firlit (Zawadski), 88 of Metamora, IL, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. Born on August 22, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, she dedicated her life to prayer, her family, caring for others and was an Avon lady for decades! She volunteered at the VA in Phoenix, AZ and was even the Volunteer of the Year at Synder Village, where she resided for the past 10 years.Caroline's early life found her helping her dad on the farm, a member of the Future Nurses of America & the girls' basketball team in high school. She began working at 3M where she met the love of her life.On May 21, 1960, she married Walter Joseph Firlit at St. Francis D'Assis Church in Detroit, MI. They raised 4 children together. She was a Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout leader, T-ball coach and helped any way she could while her children were growing up. She shared her love of board & card games with her children & grandchildren. Caroline was known to help her partner make trump in Pinnacle by pointing to her wedding ring - diamonds - when the time was right!She was preceded in death by her husband Walter and son-in-law Mario Bruno Jr.She is survived by her children Theresa Bruno, Thaddeus (Karen) Firlit, Mary Ann (Howard Jr.) Bowers and Patricia (Mark) Voudrie; grandchildren Nicholas (Lauren) Bruno, Kylee (Corey) Firlit-Tocher, Ashley (Kevin) Rudolph, Kirstie Bruno, Carissa Bruno, Tyler (Amanda) Firlit, Brandon Bowers, Alexis Voudrie, Mattie (Scott) Geyer, Monica Voudrie, Joshua (Rachael) Bowers, Vincent (Elizabeth) Voudrie and Zachary Bowers; great-grandchildren Felicity, Adelaide, Isabella, Maximus & Colette.Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 17, 2026, from 9:30-10:30am at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church 2533 W Myrtle Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85051. A rosary immediately follows with a Funeral mass beginning at 11:00am.Donations in memory of Caroline can be made to Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
