Carol Nightingale

April 18, 1942 March 12, 2026

Wyckoff, NJ

Carol Nightingale, age 83, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday, March 12, surrounded by her loving family.

She was a devoted wife to her husband of nearly 60 years, Ronald “Ronnie” Nightingale, who predeceased her in 2021. Together they created a life rooted in deep family connection, steadfast support, and abiding love. Those who knew Carol find comfort in the thought that she and Ronnie are now reunited.

Carol found simple pleasures in the company of friends, especially during years of weekly bowling, and she remained a loyal and enthusiastic fan of her beloved New York Mets. Yet her greatest joy was always her family. She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Cheryl Bennett and her husband Ray, Rhonda Vreeland and her husband Jeff, and Jennifer Geisler and her husband Mike. She was a proud and affectionate grandmother to Michael Sosa and his wife Amanda, Lindsay, Allie, and Emma Vreeland, Sean, Katie, and Fallon Geisler, and Kaitlynn Martine and her husband Chris. In recent years she was overjoyed to become a great-grandmother to Vincent Ronald Sosa and Seth Martine.

Carol is also survived by her sisters Edie Zarillo and Geri Genario. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Sue Bommelyn, her sister Susan Schroter and brother-in-law Paul Schroter, and her brother-in-law Jay Zarillo. Her warmth, her gratitude for her family, and the memories she created will remain with all who loved her.
