Carol Gulick Chandler, age 79 of Young Harris, Georgia, passed away on March 13, 2026 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on March 30, 1947 in San Diego, California, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
She graduated from Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida in 1965 and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Brenau University in 2000. Carol dedicated 43 years to her career as a cardiac nurse, including 22 years at the Florida Heart Institute in Orlando, and was a longtime member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She also became a Certified Master Naturalist through the University of Georgia. In 1994, she married Larry Chandler in Dahlonega, Georgia.
Carol found deep joy in gardening, raising her dogs, and writing gardening articles for local newspapers. She earned certification from the Appalachian Native Botanical Sanctuary and was an active member of McConnell Memorial Baptist Church, where she belonged to the Searcher’s Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Chandler; her sister, Denise Gulick Addair; her daughter, Michelle Sancho Marlatt (Jeff); her sons, Ryan Sancho (Jennifer) and Matthew Pfeifle (Kimmy); grandchildren Isabella Marlatt, Trevor Marlatt, Josiah Sancho, Ashlynn Sancho, Isaiah Sancho, Lily Sancho, Jamin Pfeifle, and Catalina Pfeifle; and great-granddaughter Adelynn.
