Carol H. Galbraith

Carol H. Galbraith, 96, of Crystal Falls, Michigan, passed away on March 13, 2026, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital.

Born in Crystal Falls to Walter and Lily (Hillson) Tamminen, Carol graduated as valedictorian of Crystal Falls High School in 1947. She married Byron “Buzzy” Galbraith on September 9, 1950, and together they shared more than seven decades of marriage until his passing in September 2023. For 25 years, Carol worked at Crystal Manor Nursing Home, retiring in 1992. She found great joy in traveling on bus tours with Buzzy, visiting family, solving crossword puzzles, reading, and creating many types of crafts.

Those who knew Carol remember her as a strong, loving, caring, and beautiful person who touched the lives of everyone around her with kindness and warmth.

She is survived by her son, William Galbraith of Crystal Falls; daughters Jeanne Bennett of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, and Karen McCabe (Steve Dischler) of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; brother Glen (Jean) Tamminen of Black River Falls, Wisconsin; sisters Doris Oss and Betty Ann Niemi of Crystal Falls and Joanne (Roger) Sartori of Manistique, Michigan; sister-in-law Marilyn Tamminen of Wausau, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Jeff Bennett, Paul Bennett, Jennifer (Eric) Franz, and Kevin (Margaret) McCabe; one great-granddaughter, Aubrielle Franz; and many nieces, nephews, and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Karen Danielson, brothers Walter and Donald Tamminen, sister-in-law Frances Tamminen, and brothers-in-law Ken Danielson, Russell Oss, and Raymond Niemi.
