Carol Frances Miller

Carol Frances Miller, age 79, of Elmira, New York, passed away on March 11, 2026. Born on September 3, 1946, to the late Paul Elliott and Mary Jane Miller, Carol grew up in Elmira and graduated from Elmira Southside High School in 1964. She went on to earn both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from SUNY Geneseo.

Carol devoted her entire career to teaching special education in the Elmira School District, where her patience, dedication, and genuine care touched the lives of countless students. She found great joy in spending summers at Keuka Lake and winters on the island of Tortola, places that brought her peace and happiness throughout her life.

She is survived by her brother, Ralph and his wife Pam of Ridgeway, Virginia; her nieces, Ashley (Ryan) Powell of Reston, Virginia, and Paula (Eric) Thiel of Vinton, Virginia, along with their children, Ethan and Addi; and her partner of 36 years, David Capus.

The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by the Falck Cancer Center. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol’s name to the Falck Cancer Center.
