November 12, 1953— March 7, 2026
Silver Springs, FL
Carol Diane Kinchen Morgan Nelson passed away at her home in Silver Springs, Florida on March 7, 2026. Born on September 12, 1953 in Tampa, Florida to Robert Lee Kinchen and Alba Joyce Carr Kinchen, Carol graduated from Turkey Creek High School in 1971. She went on to build a varied career working at the J.C. Newman Cigar Factory, several day care centers including Gibsonia Baptist Church Day Care and her own home day care, a bra factory, the Lakeland Title Office, and the Marion County Tag Office.
Carol’s life was filled with creativity and joy. She enjoyed drawing, painting, sewing, decorating, gardening, line dancing, singing, watching movies, antiquing, and thrifting. Shopping was her greatest passion, and she treasured her extensive collection of jewelry. She had a special fondness for old cars, particularly her 1960 Corvette, and loved riding her Harley. A woman of faith, she attended the First Church of God in Sydney, Florida as a teenager and later participated in a car club in Ocala. Above all, she lived with a generous heart, loving others as Jesus loved.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Phillip Reed Morgan, and her mother, Alba Joyce Carr Kinchen.
Carol is survived by her loving husband, Edward Thomas Nelson; her father, Robert Lee Kinchen and his wife Lois; her sisters, Dee Dee Grooms and husband Carl, Denise Alderman and husband Jim, and Darla Nutter and husband Brook; nieces Kristi Groom Barnes and husband Derek, Danielle Nutter, and Bella Nutter; nephew Dustin Grooms and wife Alison; and great-niece Skyler Brook Grooms.
