Carol Davis Ballard

Carol Davis Ballard

July 27, 1946 March 5, 2026

Huntersville, NC

Carol Davis Ballard was originally a Charlottean, the middle child born to Roy and Kathryn Davis on July 27, 1946, and was raised with her brother, “Bud”, and sister, Kathy.

Carol came to live with her grandmother in Cornelius as a teenager. It was here where she met the love of her life, Wayne; and their lifelong friends, Charles and Faye Barrett. Wayne and Carol married in 1964, welcomed daughter Stacey in 1969 and son Clint in 1972. They welcomed another son in 1996 when they met Ivan “Vanya” Bocharenko for the first time.

As a long time member of First Baptist Church Cornelius, Carol served as Chair of the Deacons and taught Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School for decades. She worked at General Time and at Knox Realty in Davidson, and she was a teacher’s assistant at Cornelius Elementary School for more than fifteen years.

Carol had her own style and was a fabulously unique and loving person. If you knew her for very long, you soon came to know her wry sense of humor.

The joy of Carol’s life was her family, and she loved being “Nana” to Kendall, Caroline, Charlie and Cooper. She was always a great and constant support to family and many lifelong friends.

She was predeceased by her parents and brother and sister; and by Wayne; their daughter, Stacey; and their daughter-in-law, Katherine.

Carol is survived by their son, Clint, and his children, Caroline and Cooper; son-in-law, Ken Turrentine, and his children, Kendall and Charlie; son Ivan (Vanya) Bocharenko and his wife, Ka; nephews, Brian and Pat Fink, Stevie Honeycutt; and niece, Wendy Honeycutt, and their families, and many lifelong friends whom she considered family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Raymer-Kepler Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Visitation will be from 10 am to 11 am, Funeral Service at 11:00, and burial will follow at Mt. Zion cemetery, Cornelius.
