August 1, 1930— March 7, 2026
Mount Dora, FL
Carol Fuller, 95, of Mount Dora, Florida, passed away on March 7, 2026. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 1, 1930, she moved with her parents and two older brothers to a farm in Harbert, Michigan, in 1938. The family lived near Lake Michigan, initially without electricity, raising crops and animals together. Carol rode her pony to the local one-room schoolhouse, embracing the simple rhythms of rural life shaped by hard work and close family bonds.
Faith was central to Carol from early childhood. Harbert Community Church served as the heart of her family’s spiritual and social world. After high school, she attended Benton Harbor Community College before embarking on a new adventure at age twenty-one as a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines. Based first in New York City, she met and married Donald Goodrum in 1951. As a single mother raising three children, she later worked for a Delta Air Lines executive in Atlanta. In 1967 she married Tom Fuller in East Point, Georgia. Together they blended their families and made homes in St. Petersburg, Florida, Simsbury, Connecticut, and finally Mount Dora in 1978, where Tom ran a securities firm and Carol opened a gift shop.
Carol was deeply devoted to her community in Mount Dora. She served as president of the Kiwanis Club, as a city councilwoman, and remained actively involved with the Ice House Theatre and Sister Cities. She was also the longest-standing member of the Mount Dora Yacht Club. Her warmth, energy, and commitment to service touched many lives.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Fuller, daughters Karen Goodrum Ferree, stepdaughter Rebecca Barner, parents Roy and Caroline Bindon, and brothers Jack and Roy Bindon. Carol is survived by her son Don Goodrum (Michelle) and their children Jenna Goodrum (Jacob) and Sara Thomson (Colton); her daughter Lisa Brown (Jerry) and their children Audrey Goodwin (Brad), Alex Brown, and Nelson Brown; her stepdaughter Grace Fuller (Barry) and Grace’s children Thom Stanton (Midge) and Clint Stanton; and six great-grandchildren.
