Mrs. Carol Ann Dunnegan Bailey, 79, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, in Davie County, NC.
She was born on March 17, 1946, to the late Clifton Pershing Dunnegan and Frances Louise Vestal Dunnegan in Forsyth County, NC.
She retired from WSFC Schools food and nutrition. Carol was a fashionable lady in her day. She was quick-witted with a hilarious sense of humor, and was a person you could talk to easily and made you feel at home. Carol was a lover of animals, plants, flowers, old movies and enjoyed time at the beach with her family.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen E. Bailey; her son, Robert Paul Bailey; and her brothers, C.P. “Cliff” Dunnegan (Judy), and Richard “Dickie” Dunnegan (Debbie).
Those left to cherish her memory include her niece, Dawn Carey (Dean); nephew, Danny Dunnegan (Kristy); four great-nieces; and her handpicked family, Daryl Gillis (Kent Myers), Morgan Jessup (Austin), Westin Gillis (Hayley), Max Morphies, Dallas Crosby (Melissa Boahn), Johnathan Gray.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30am on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 11:00 am prior to the service at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled Veterans in honor of her brothers Cliff and Dickie Dunnegan for their service.
Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel is assisting the family of Mrs. Carol Bailey.
