Carol Ann Dolores Britto, 83, passed away on March 1, 2026. Born on June 9, 1942, in Sacramento, California, Carol was the daughter of Juanita Poirier and Adam Thomas Britto. Preceded in death by her parents and son Ramon Modesto Esparza, she is remembered by her son, Raul Francisco Esparza, daughter-in-law Hanna Hsu, grandchild Teresa Esparza, sister Geraldine Granillo, and many relatives and friends. Carol attended Grant Union High School and graduated from James Marshall High School. She then graduated from Sacramento City College in 1969, the University of California, Davis in 1970, and the CSUS with a Master's degree in 1998. She ran in the Primary Election in 1982 for the California State Senate where she received 9,713 votes. She joined the Discalced Carmelite, Third Order in Sacramento where she served terms as the president and the head of formation. She worked as a social worker for the County of Sacramento for over 9 years in the Adult Protective Services program and taught La Mujer Chicana at CSUS. All funeral services will be held at: St. Mary Cemetery & Funeral Center 6509 Fruitridge Road Sacramento, California Her vigil will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 5 PM to 8 PM and we will begin praying the rosary at 6 PM. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 and where viewing begins at 11 AM, the Funeral Mass starts at Noon and the burial is scheduled to be at 1 PM.
