Carol null ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Romero Funeral Home on Mar. 16, 2026.It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Chavez, age 90, who passed away at home with her daughter and son by her side in Valencia, NM. Services will take place at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church on Friday, March 20, 2026. Starting with a Visitation at 9:00 a.m., a Rosary at 10:00 a.m., and Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Interment will follow at Valencia Catholic Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Liz (Jon) Sevin; son, Andrew Chavez; granddaughter Andrea (Brian) Caldwell; grandson Jordan (Courtney) Sevin; grandchildren, Aaron and Samantha; great grandchildren, Alaina, Logan, Eric, Gunner, Aaron, and Chloe. Carol is preceded in death by her loving husband Sisto Chavez; daughter, Yvonne Chavez; parents, Antonio and Rita Gallegos; brothers, Eloy, Tony, Johnny and Henry. Carol was born on August 11, 1935 in Peralta, NM. Early child years growing up in Flagstaff, AZ, and later moved back to Valencia and met her husband Sisto. The greatest joy of Carol was her family and friends who she cherished every moment with. Her simply joy was making and having breakfast with her son Andrew and preparing and having lunch with her daughter Liz. Carol was a devoted Catholic, cherished her family, friends and Faith. Her joy of going to church visiting with friends and having breakfast with her family and Emily. Every spring Carol and her son Andrew would plant a garden of vegetables and beautiful flowers and enjoyed their time together. Carol enjoyed cooking and feeding every one who came over to her home, you always left there full. She also loved sitting outside with her dog "Joy" and loved her bird "Pearl" that has been with her for twenty years. Those who knew Carol will remember her warmth, kindness wonderful sense of humor and generosity that touched countless lives. Carol was known for her pretty hair she will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends and all whose lives she touched above all we give thanks to God for blessing us with a wonderful mother whom we had for 90 years to share with all of you.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
