Carlene Shaw Barker

Carlene Shaw Barker, the third daughter and third child of six born to Walter and Phoebe Shaw, entered this world on August 23, 1936, and passed peacefully to her Heavenly Father on March 9, 2026.

A warm and fun-loving woman, Carlene cherished time spent with her family, especially at their cabin in the Uintas. She found joy in reading Western novels, taking walks, being outdoors, and watching her favorite show, “Murder She Wrote.”

She married Weston Rayo Barker on August 12, 1957. Together they raised their four children in Evanston, where they lived their entire lives aside from a brief period in California. Carlene had a gift for friendship and a soft heart for animals and children alike; she never met a person she didn’t treat as a friend or an animal or child that didn’t receive a treat from her.

She is survived by her brother Byron Shaw, sisters-in-law Linda Shaw and Maryann Barker, her children Kurt (Anne), Susan, Jim (Terri), and Eric (Stacy), grandchildren Sean, Tyler (Jessica), Cory (Caitlin), Tate (Mishawn), Nic, Jayson Barker, and Jessi (Julio) Andrino, eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Rayo Barker, her parents Walter and Phoebe Shaw, and her siblings Verla (Jim) Condos, Joyce (Gene) Nicholls, Merrill Shaw, and Russell Shaw.
