Carla Renee Crider

Carla Renee Crider, a radiant soul whose warmth touched everyone around her, passed away on March 11, 2026, at Duke University Hospital. Born on January 21, 1970, in Greene County, Tennessee, Carla lived a vibrant life filled with love and genuine connection.

Outgoing and kind, Carla had a remarkable ability to light up any room with her infectious laughter and bright smile. Her presence brought comfort and left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She found her true love in Joshua Crider, meeting him on a Wednesday and becoming engaged by the following Saturday in a whirlwind romance that was love at first sight for Joshua. Together they built a life grounded in mutual support and compassion.

Carla took great pride in caring for her family and her beloved cats, Stella Artois and Macaroni and Cheese. Her nurturing spirit and deep devotion to those she loved were among the things she cherished most. Her affection for her cats was boundless, reflecting a lifelong appreciation for animals that brought her consistent joy.

She is survived by her husband, Joshua Crider; her father, Charles Ottinger, and stepmother, Margene Ottinger; and her siblings, Jennie Phipps, Sheila Neas, and Randy Ottinger. Carla was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Faye Ottinger. Her memory will remain a treasured source of light for all who loved her.
