Carla Jean Duda
March 31, 1961— March 6, 2026
St. Louisville, OH
Carla Jean Duda, age 64, of St. Louisville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2026. Born on March 31, 1961, in Columbus, Ohio, Carla grew up with a deep love for animals that shaped her entire life. She and her husband, Anthony, made their home on a farm where caring for cattle, horses, sheep, goats, ducks, birds, chickens, cats, and especially her beloved dogs was a daily joy. Their farm was alive with fun, life, and laughter, even now guarded by a proud goose.
Carla met Anthony in a charmingly unexpected way when a friend secretly used a dating site on her behalf to connect with a farmer. Though hesitant at first, she went, and from that moment they were inseparable. They built a loving life together on the farm and would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this coming May. Carla worked as a dedicated hairdresser for more than 40 years, cherishing her clients and forming many lasting friendships through conversation, laughter, and shared stories.
She had a wonderful sense of humor and a playful, quick-witted personality that could make anyone laugh until they cried. Carla and Anthony shared a special tradition of traveling each year to the Tennessee Smoky Mountains, their beloved home away from home. They enjoyed staying high in the mountains, picnicking beside peaceful streams in the national parks, and watching for bears—Carla had such a talent for spotting them that family affectionately called her the “bear magnet.” These trips, often shared with loved ones, created memories that will be treasured always.
Carla was preceded in death by her parents, Delmer and Barbara Lavely; her sister, Christy Johnson; and her brothers-in-law, James Terry, Rob Johnson, and Bob Archer. She is survived by her loving husband, Anthony Duda; her siblings Cindy Terry, Cheryl Archer, Craig Lavely, Connie (Steve) Drabick, and Chad (Rick Garrison) Lavely; her nephews Matthew (Gail) Terry, Nathan Terry, and Robby (Katie) Johnson; her nieces Alicia Archer and Ashley Archer; and her great-nephew Brayden Johnson.
She will be remembered for her kind heart, her contagious laughter, her deep love for animals, and the happiness she found in the simple joys of nature, family, and country living. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
